“When the lights go on again” – The story of Cowfold in World War 2

This book captures the memories of eleven residents who lived in or around the village as children during World War II and together with transcribed sections from the St Peter’s School log book and the admission register for that time, is the history of Cowfold in WW2. This account is set against the backcloth of national and international events and how they impacted on the villagers of Cowfold. The book includes a list of the Cowfold and surrounding area residents (except where names have been redacted) and where they lived as recorded in the 1939 Register that was taken on 29 September 1939 and was used to issue National Identity cards.

The book, written by Mike Burt, was published in 2019 as a commemoration of the outbreak of WW2 on 3 September 1939. Copies of the book, which  retails at £12.99,  can be purchased from Mike at: michael.burt1911@btinternet.com.
